Flowers planted in memory of Malvern councillor

FLOWERS have been planted in memory if Coun Chris Cheeseman passed away last year.

Coun Cheeseman died after collapsing at a council meeting back in June.

The blooms were installed in a planter outside MHDC Council Chambers last Thursday (March 12) and a plaque in memory of the late councillor will be unveiled in the near future.

Coun Cheeseman had served on the district council for more than seven years and, during that time, he held places on several committees.

He was chairman of the standards committee and was also involved in Community Action, Malvern Hills AONB Joint Advisory Committee and Malvern Hills Conservators.

He was a former vice-chairman of the West Worcestershire Conservative Association.

Coun David Hughes, leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “I am so pleased we have this fitting tribute of a planter and beautiful flowers in memory of Coun Chris Cheeseman.

“It is appropriate to have them here outside the council chamber, where he contributed so much of his work as a devoted councillor.

“Not only will they brighten up the area, they will serve as a constant reminder to us of our friend and colleague.”
