A FREE event has been organised to showcase the vital services which are available to older people, family, friends and carers across the Malvern Hills district.

Organised by the district council and Worcestershire County Council, the session will take place next Tuesday from 11am to 2pm at The Memorial Hall in Upton-upon-Severn.

A wealth of knowledge, support and information will be available to residents to help them ‘age well’ and live independently in their own home for longer.

There will also be the opportunity to take part in a free strength and balance taster class as well as a health walk.

The theme of the event will be dementia awareness, with a free dementia friends session running from 2pm to 3pm upstairs, to help raise awareness of how people living with the condition can be supported.

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for healthier communities on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “As part of our commitment to improve people’s health and well-being, we are keen to raise awareness and understanding of the great services on offer for older people in the district.

“With more than 20 organisations exhibiting, it’s going to be a great event for local residents to enjoy.”
