Freedom Leisure announced as leading sponsor for Malvern Hills District Community Sports Awards

FREEDOM Leisure has been confirmed as the new platinum sponsor for this year’s Malvern Hills District Community Sports Awards.

The organisation, which operates the district council’s three leisure centres, take on the role of headline sponsor of the prestigious event, having backed the awards in a different sponsorship role for the last two years.

Now in their seventh year, the awards promise to be the biggest yet with the ceremony taking place on Thursday, July 17 at the Bank House Hotel.

More than 200 guests including nominees, their families, local sport and leisure clubs and organisations, local businesses, councillors, police and more will be attending.




Jeremey Rowe, Freedom Leisure head of operations Wales and West, said: “We are absolutely delighted to support these exceptional local sports awards which recognise the importance and impact of local sport clubs, facilities, initiatives and individuals in Malvern Hills.

“These awards closely reflect the beliefs of Freedom Leisure because as a not-for-profit organisation, we have a focus on the communities in which we serve.


“It is our aim to engage a wide cross-section of people, enabling everyone to be more active more often.

“We urge locals who may not have visited one of the four centres we operate in the district to do so, as there really is something on offer for all abilities and preferences.”

The awards are run by Malvern Hills District Council and recognise the hard work and success of coaches, clubs, volunteers and sporting stars.

Nominations are being sought for the thirteen award categories on offer, including Positive Change of the Year and Sports School of the Year, which are new for 2017.

BBC Hereford and Worcester drive time presenter Andrew Easton is once again hosting the ceremony which will be produced by Malvern-based AN Event Services.

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for healthier communities on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the sports awards again this year, now in association with Freedom Leisure reflecting their commitment to improving the health and well being of our local community.

“With the support of Freedom Leisure and our Gold Sponsors, we can shine a light on those who have a positive impact on sport in the community, and inspire others to get active too.”

The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 26.

Some opportunities remain to sponsor the awards themselves.
