ANIMAL protection campaigners raised £120 for the National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) at a street collection in Malvern at the weekend.
Several members of Worcestershire Vegans and Veggies (WVV) dressed in animal costumes while distributing leaflets on Saturday (April 22) for the NAVS which campaigns against animal experiments.
Dozens of shoppers also signed a petition to the government against animal experimentation.
WVV’s communications officer Ronald Lee, said: “We would like to thank the people of Malvern for their generous support of NAVS, who do excellent work in fighting to end cruel experiments on animals, of which about four million a year take place in the UK.
“It goes to show that most members of the public are opposed to the ill-treatment of animals and are happy to help animal protection organisations.
“Helping NAVS is very much part of the ethos of our group, which campaigns for animal protection throughout the county, as well as promoting a humane lifestyle and diet free from animal products.”
