AN HISTORIC home in Hanley Castle will host a fund-raising Christmas carol evening next month.
The estate in Severn End dates back to Jacobean times and is home to Sir Nicholas Lechmere and his wife Caroline, who will host the event on Thursday, December 6 from 7pm to 9pm.
The event will be raising money for the Friends of St Mary’s Church, who dedicate their work to the preservation and maintenance of the church and its grounds, including repairs to the war memorial and church clock.
St Mary’s Church dates back to the 12th century and is one of the oldest buildings in Hanley Castle.
Traditional Carol singing will be accompanied by a piano and carol sheets will be provided.
Sir Nicholas said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming people to the event and hope they enjoy the carol singing and festive cheer.
“Hanley is a wonderful village with great community spirit and we hope to raise much-needed funds for the church.”
Tickets cost £10 and are available from The Three Kings in Hanley Castle.
