Malvern Editorial 29th Oct, 2024   0

AN EVENT on the future of farming in Malvern is set to give those in the industry a great insight into dealing with the profession’s challenges.

The Three Counties Agricultural Society will be hosting the free one-off Future of Farming event on November 21 at Three Counties Showground.

Industry experts and farmers alike will come together at the Virgin Money sponsored event to discuss the future of the profession and share expert tips and practical solutions for things such as succession planning.

Succession planning is a strategy that organisations use to identify and develop employees to take over key roles when they become vacant.

The informative event will feature a range of specialists from a variety of industries, alongside farmers who have undergone succession planning themselves.

The day will include a question-and-answer session, breakout sessions to discuss popular topics in greater detail, as well as one-to-one opportunities with experts and farmers and the chance to network with others.

Brian Richardson, UK head of agriculture at Virgin Money will be joined by a panel of participating experts in various sectors such as business advisory and consultancy, accountancy, financial advice for landed estates, and law.

Brian Richardson, said: “Family farming businesses are the backbone of our agricultural industry in the UK, and planning your succession from the current generation to the next is absolutely essential.

“This is particularly true in the present climate of uncertainty. Farmers and their families are facing challenges to their economic viability right now, which makes financial planning particularly critical.”

The event, which includes a complimentary light lunch, is free of charge, however online registration in advance is required.

David Prescott, CEO at Three Counties Agricultural Society (TCAS), commented: “Succession planning is an essential process to protect assets, business interests and families.

“Here at Three Counties, we understand it is imperative to provide advice and guidance, to further support the future viability of the farming industry as a whole.”
