A YOUNG Ledbury man was assaulted and robbed by a gang in a daylight alleyway attack.

The 20-year-old victim was walking behind South Worcestershire College on Davies Road, Evesham, between 1pm and 1.30pm last Tuesday (April 28) when he was approached by five unknown men.

One of the group verbally threatened the victim, before he robbed him and took his wallet, phone, car keys and lighter.

The suspect and a second man from the gang then assaulted him before they returned his wallet and keys.

The victim suffered injuries to the face but did not require medical treatment.

At the time of the incident the first man was wearing a grey track suit. The second man was wearing a maroon jumper with jeans.

Two men from Evesham have since been arrested on suspicion of robbery. The men, aged 18 and 20, have been released on bail until May 21, pending further enquiries.

Anyone who saw the incident or has further information can contact police on the non-emergency number 101 or by calling Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
