Heroic efforts from traders pay off

Malvern Editorial 23rd Jan, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

THE EFFORTS of generous town traders have raised £2,000 towards equipment for Malvern Community Hospital.

The money was generated through a number of events organised by retailers in Barnards Green throughout December and was handed over to Lin Ingles, matron at the Worcester Road site last week.

The group raised more than expected and the money will fund an eye inspection trolley at the hospital in the minor injuries unit as well as another piece of equipment.

Both will bare plaques stating the money was raised by Barnards Green Traders.

Jane Knowles and Helen Portman, on behalf of the retailers, thanked everyone who contributed and said: “The amount raised demonstrated what could be achieved when everyone worked together and contributed something no matter how much.

“Our motto is ‘Traders serving their community’ and we think this is a great example of that ethos in action.”
