MALVERN Town’s Christmas tree is now in place ready for the big switch-on this weekend.

The 25ft Norway Spruce has been put up at Belle Vue Island after being donated for free by Leigh Sinton Christmas Trees.

On Saturday (November 29) it will be the focal point for the Great Christmas Festival where it will be switched on by Channel 5 Milkshake presenter Derek Moran who will be the star in this year’s pantomime Aladdin.

Other attractions on the day will include Santa’s grotto, music and entertainment, vintage cars, an arts and crafts market and the lantern parade.

It is the sixth year Leigh Sinton Christmas Trees has donated a tree and tomorrow (Thursday) they will be open on the B4503 until December 24 for anyone who needs a new tree this year.

Nick Beard, who co-runs the family business which has been running since 1950, said: “It’s just a nice thing to do for the town.”
