A MALVERN family has carried on a Christmas tradition my dressing up their dog for the festive season and handing out presents to the people.
Once again, Staffy-cross Gizma has been out and about in Barnards Green sporting a reindeer costume and saddlebag filled with gifts.
Accompanied by Iona Broderick, six, and her grandmother Marilyn Bushnell, the 12-year-old pooch has visited residents at Court House Nursing Home as well as shops and visitors in the nearby area.
The family hand out presents, ably carried by Giz, at the home as well as to youngsters they see on their way home.
The tradition started a few years ago when all three would visit Iona’s great-grandmother Eileen Smith at Court House who sadly passed away last year, but nevertheless the visits have still continued every Tuesday.
Iona’s mum Penny Broderick said: “We re-homed Gizma from the Dogs Trust in Evesham and she is the best dog in the world.
“Giz is such a good dog she was asked to visit other residents at Court House.
“When we dressed her as a reindeer and took presents up one Christmas she was so well received we did it last year and again this year.
“We will more than likely do it next year as well.”
