WOMEN of all ages will be able to build confidence whilst riding on the roads with a special one-off cycling workshop in Malvern.
Organised by Malvern Hills District Council, ‘Couch to Cycling with Confidence’ will be held for one night from 6:30pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 21 at Victoria Park.
Aimed at women and girls, the £15 course hopes to boost confidence with riding on the road as well as discovering new routes.
Couch to Cycling Confidence has six places available and these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Rachel Vann, physical activity and well-being officer for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Some women can feel unsafe or uncomfortable when cycling on the roads so this evening course is a great chance for them to improve in confidence in a supportive and nurturing environment.
“There are an abundance of different routes to explore across the county to suit cyclists of all ages and skill level.”
Cllr David Watkins, portfolio holder for housing and communities on Malvern Hills District Council, added: “Encouraging people to be more active is a key part of our five year plan and cycling is a really effective way of doing this.
“It is so important cyclists learn how to stay safe whilst riding on the roads and the main component of this is having confidence in themselves and in their knowledge of the rules.”
