WILDLIFE lovers in Malvern have been invited to take part in a number of discovery courses.

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust are now running a range of sessions aimed at helping residents to brush-up on their knowledge of the county’s wildlife.

The courses cover everything from birdsongs, wildflowers and bats to water voles, fungi and slugs.

Each session, which are led by a local expert, cater for absolute beginners to those with a basic knowledge of the topic.

Birdsong identification for beginners will be held on May 2 at Lower Smite Farm, while birdsong identification for absolute beginners will take place one May 9 at the Knapp and Papermill Nature Reserve.

A birdwatching for absolute beginners session will also be held on May 30 at Upton Warren Nature Reserve.

Hannah Thomas, engagement officer, said: “The sessions are informal and friendly with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get advice on how to continue learning back at home.

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re fascinated by the cute and cuddly or the slimy and secretive, there is something for everyone.”

Each course involves an indoor presentation and the chance to get out and put the newly-learned knowledge into practice.

Courses cost £15 or £20 per person and booking is essential.
