Great Malvern Fatface store ditches Black Friday discounts to donate to town charity

A MALVERN charity which supports families who have children with disabilities has received a donation of more £600 from the town’s Fatface store.

A cheque for £644.80 was presented to Malvern Special Families at the shop on Church Street in Great Malvern.

The money was raised as a result of the high street retailer’s ‘Thanks for Giving’ scheme which saw Fatface shops across the UK pledge to ditch Black Friday discounts in favour of donating profits to charity.

And Fatface pledged to donate a proportion of their profits to over 200 local charities chosen by employees across the UK.

Malvern Special Families was delighted to be chosen by staff from the Great Malvern Fatface store as their local charity to benefit from the campaign.

The money raised in the Fatface shop came from a proportion of the profits taken from sales in the store between November 21 and 28 last year.

Cassie Zoro, Malvern Special Families community fundraiser said: “Thank you to everybody who got shopping in the Great Malvern Fatface store and helped raise so much money for Malvern Special Families.

“It’s fantastic to see a large retail chain like Fatface donating a percentage of their profits to local charities. Fundraising initiatives like this can really help small charities like us to be able to support more local families.”

The donation comes after Malvern Special Families received £500 from Best Parties Ever Ltd to enable the charity to provide more activities and support more families in the area.

Yasemin Prvulj-Smith, store manager for FatFace in Great Malvern, added: “Here at FatFace we believe that the retail industry can act as a force for good.

“We are committed to making a difference to local people and communities through our ‘Thanks for Giving’ campaign.

“We are proud to be able to support Malvern Special Families which is a brilliant local charity providing holiday clubs and play schemes for children and young people with disabilities.”
