GRITTERS will be out on the county’s roads tonight as temperatures dip below freezing.
Primary routes will be gritted from around 6pm today (Monday), with drivers advised to drive with caution and not assume it is safe to travel at normal speed.
There is also a risk of sleet, with temperatures being slow to rise tomorrow morning, and some roads may be icy during the morning rush hour.
Coun John Smith OBE, responsible for highways and transport on Worcestershire County Council, said: “The message for drivers doesn’t change but it’s just as important as ever. Take care when temperatures dip. Grit has never been, or never will be a miracle cure. Don’t assume that it’s safe to travel at normal speeds when temperatures dip, even if you think roads may have been treated.”
