A GROUND-BREAKING ceremony was held to officially mark work starting on the 60-bed Colwall Care Home.
The allocated building contractors are now excavating the foundations after the event which was attended by Rotherwood Healthcare chairman, Richard Claridge and its chief executive officer John Fennel.
The two were accompanied by Lee Collingham, director of LNC property developments, Billy Rew from Target fund managers and the designated architect Kristian Lawrence.
John Fennel said: “We’re thrilled to get the project under way on what will be a first class care home, enriching the lives of older people while supporting the demand for care in the region.”
He added he looked forward to work progressing and the opening in 2024.
Rotherwood Healthcare has a number of care homes across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire.
The firm provides residential, nursing and dementia care for older people.
The home, near the Malvern Hills, will have state-of-the-art amenities, including a bar, cinema room and a variety of activities for residents to take part in.
