HANLEY Road in Upton-upon-Severn will remain closed until further notice, Worcestershire County Council has confirmed.
The road was closed yesterday following flood warnings for the River Severn in the town. County Council bosses said it could remain closed for at least a couple of more days.
This latest picture by Michelle Odell shows most of the road under water by the Texaco petrol station.
A tweet sent by the county Council’s Twitter feed @WorcsTravel which accompanied a similar picture read: “B4211 Hanley Road #Upton earlier today – will remain closed until further notice – you see the problem!”
John Fraser, head of highways at Worcestershire County Council, insisted Upton remained open for business.
“Upton remains open for business but the water levels on Hanley Road got to a point where traffic could not get through,” he said.
“It could take a couple of days before we open it again.
“We have a diversion in place and my advice to drivers would be to drive carefully and use the diversions in place. ”
