A WEATHER warning has been issued about strong winds and heavy rain which is threatening to lash the county in the next 24 hours.

Forecasts by the Met Office predict that from midnight tonight wind speeds will increase, peaking at 25mph.

It also predicts there will be gusts in the next 24 hours which will be close to 50mph.

For Malvern, rain is predicted almost constantly from midnight to 7am and again for several hours in the afternoon.

The conditions will be caused by the remains of Hurricane Gonzalo which has made its way across the Atlantic from America.

The Met Office has officially issued a yellow warning for Worcestershire.

On its website, a statement read: “The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel and possible damage to trees.

“Difficult driving conditions will result, perhaps exacerbated by surface water and spray in places.”
