A ‘LOYAL and dedicated’ council worker was feeling top of the pile after he celebrated a momentous milestone.
Colin Pearce, who works as a refuse and recycling collector for Malvern Hills District Council, has done everything from rounding up escaped cows and rushing to the aid on an injured motorcyclist in his 40 years on the job.
He started working for Upton District Council as a relief loader at the age of 19 and since then has been on various bin rounds across the district.
Colin said: “I have many highlights throughout the years.
“I have spent many times helping elderly people with their shopping up and down stairs, changing batteries in fire alarms and assisted in a serious road accident helping a motorcyclist who was hit by a car.
“On one occasion I even helped a farmer round up some escaped cows which were in the road and locked them safely back in the field.”
To mark the achievement, Colin was presented with shopping vouchers and a personal thank you from the management team.
