Hollie's gearing up for future with Morgan Motors

A DRIVEN Malvern worker who suffered a devastating blow of being made redundant looks set to be on the road to recovery thanks to a classic car firm.

Hollie Norman was one of 60 members of staff who lost their jobs at Dytecna Ltd when the Science Park based company went into administration four months ago.

But following a rallying call from Malvern Hills District Council, businesses in the town offered their support and Morgan Motors has since recruited Hollie as a production planner.

“It was all new to me having to look for a job after such a long time and it was a bit daunting at first,” Hollie, who had worked at Dytecna Ltd for 15 years, said.

“The help Malvern Hills District Council offered was very useful and I sent out a lot of speculative CVs based on those job opportunities.

“I am really enjoying working for Morgan. There is a lot to learn but I am getting there.”

A total of 19 companies in Malvern came forward and offered 27 job opportunities collectively.

Steve Morris, Morgan’s managing director, said: “A car is a complex thing to make but Hollie brings a fresh pair of eyes and the opportunity to interrogate our processes and look at the way we assemble and manufacture our vehicles.

“Plus, it is always nice to employ local people as and when you can.”

Simon Smith, head of economic development at MHDC, added: “The response to our call to help the skills of Dytecna staff in the district was overwhelming, with Morgan Cars being the first to come forward to say they wanted to help.

“It is fantastic news that thanks to Morgan we are keeping Hollie’s valued skills here in the district to keep our economy thriving.”

Dytecna staff are still being urged to visit the jobs page at www.malvernhills.gov.uk/jobs to find out which employers are recruiting.
