RESIDENTS’ calls to reject more than 100 homes in Malvern Link have been backed by two of the town’s politicians.
Clive Smith and Mike Soley, both Independent candidates in the Link, have said they will scrutinise highways chiefs after they did a U-turn on their original decision to refuse the proposals.
Plans to build 110 properties on land of Lower Howsell Road initially looked like being thrown back after Worcestershire County Council’s highways department said the Spring Lane junction was unsuitable.
However, following ‘further clarification of traffic data’ officers reversed the decision.
Mr Smith said: “Residents can be rest assured we will challenge the highways professionals as to why there has been this sudden change of heart.
“We will scrutinise and challenge them. They can expect the ‘Paxman treatment’ from us.”
