Hundreds sign up to homes protest

Malvern Editorial 18th Jul, 2014 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

MORE than 400 residents have declared their opposition to plans for a large housing development in Malvern Link.

An action group called the Malvern Link Forum has formed in recent weeks since Madresfield Estates’ proposals for the land on Lower Howsell Road were unveiled at the end of June.

More than 20 people have been going door-to-door in the area urging people to sign a petition and display posters in their windows to demonstrate they are against the bid.

The group is set to meet at The New Inn – directly opposite the site – at 7pm on Monday, July 28 and are planning for a mass demonstration which residents have been urged to join, on the field at 7pm on Thursday, July 31. Petitions will be available to sign on both days.

A further meeting is scheduled for August 12 at Malvern Cricket Club and in September, Ron Harris of Summerfield Road, is expected to address the district council outlining the concerns on behalf of residents.

He said there were many issues with the plans chief among which was the proposed access onto Lower Howsell Road, because of the blind bend at the would-be junction and the lack of footpaths.

Mr Harris has urged residents to contact him at [email protected] or on 07786 990094 for more information on the campaign against the plans.

Formal feedback can also be sent to Harris Lamb via www.harrislamb.com where the plans can be viewed.
