THERE was plenty to celebrate at Dyson Perrins CE Academy as students received their A-Level results and secured their place at some of England’s top universities.
School chiefs heaped extra praise on their students considering the ‘new and more challenging’ examinations which had been introduced for this year
There was some excellent individual successes in academic A-Level subject including Paige Pollard who got an A* in Mathematics, an A* in Further Mathematics, an A in Chemistry and an A* in EPQ.
She is now going to study Mathematics at the University of Exeter.
Frances Green got an A* in Biology, A in Chemistry and A in Mathematics as well as an A* in EPQ.
She is now going to study Medicine at the University of East Anglia.
Meanwhile, Grace Nethaway claimed an A* in Geography, A in English Literature, A in Biology and an A* in EPQ and is now going to study Medicine at Manchester University.
School chiefs also claimed students following a vocational pathway continue to thrive at Dyson Perrins, outperforming similar students nationally with an average grade of a Distinction, the highest grade possible, for the new Applied General Qualifications.
Acting headteacher Peter Wallace said: “I am thrilled for the students and it is just reward for all of their continued hard work over the last two years.
“It is particularly pleasing to see students succeed in the facilitating academic subjects such as Mathematics where 83 per cent of our students achieved A*-B grade and Chemistry where 100 per cent of our students achieved an A*-B grade.
“I would like to thank the staff for their relentless approach to supporting the students and the fact that 100 per cent of the students that applied to University have gained a place is testament to the quality of the advice and guidance given by Miss Claire Watson, our head of Sixth Form.”
