THE HEREFORD 10-mile race was the latest challenge taken on by members of the Malvern Buzzards Running Club.
This was the first of the season’s championship races with a challenge course consisting of an undulating figure of eight route around quiet country lanes.
The run started and finished near the rugby club – the race headquarters.
Neil Warne was the first Buzzard home setting a new 10-mile male club record of 1hr, 2mins and 52secs.
He was swiftly followed by Alan Southwick (1hr, 7mins, 58secs) and Alison Webb (1hr 10mins 47secs) who was the fourth fastest female overall to finish. She also came first in her FV50 age category and set a new Malvern Buzzard 10-mile female club record.
The remaining Buzzards were not far behind. Making up the club’s top 10 were Adam Grant (1hr, 11mins, 6secs), Paul Cooke (1hr, 12mins, 29secs), Paul White (1hr, 14mins and 39secs), Robert Howells (1hr, 17mins and 23secs), Barbara Gawlak (1hr, 19mins and 45secs), Nicola Brighton (1hr 21mins and 56secs) and Wesley Ogden (1hr, 22mins and 7secs).
Julie Slack took the first place for her age category (FV65) with a time of 1hr, 33mins and 27secs.
This race was the first in the Malvern Buzzards Race Captain’s League Championship which is an internal race competition within the club.
The club wants to thank Ready, Set, Go Timing for a fantastic event.
