INSPIRATIONAL people were celebrated by a Malvern special needs charity at their annual awards night.

What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful (WMYDMYB) held their second Awesome Awards which presented the opportunity to celebrate the families and children they work with.

It was also an opportunity to recognise key people in the community who give plenty of support to the children and families WMYDMYB help.

Nine awards were presented at the event held at Malvern Town Football Club on Langland Avenue.

The award winners were: Tonya O’Donnell (Mum of the Year), Fraser Philpotts (Sibling of the Year), Carl Salmon (Teacher of the Year), Russell Petty (Volunteer of the Year), Ben Daffin (Child of Courage Award), Robbie Aston (Child of Courage Award), Noah Saric-Garness (Inspirational Child of the Year), Gareth (Dad of the Year) and Chris Pinder (Special Recognition Award).

WMYDMYB founder Kim Philpotts said: “I have been privileged to be involved and heading up the awards event working alongside Chris Pinder from HDanywhere – who is the charity’s main sponsor – in putting together an awards ceremony to show what fantastic achievements the community give.

“This was their time to shine.

“I love working alongside our sponsors HDanywhere and The Downs School Malvern and getting them involved, the sponsors have been amazing and really care about these families and the community.

“It was very emotional and tears all round for these amazing people.”
