STAFF and students at Ballet Malvern Centre of Dance are celebrating after being honoured at a major awards ceremony.
The Cowleigh Road school is celebrating its 10th anniversary and was named Performing Arts School of the Year for Central England at the Prestige Awards after defeating the challenges of 12 other schools.
It’s the latest post-pandemic boost for the school which continued its classes throughout lockdown and were one of the first companies to go onto zoom a week before the country shut down in March 2020.
Classes were reworked to focus on different aspects of students training in not just ballet but contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theatre, acting and singing.
Teacher Rebecca Sloan-Kirton said: “We are about enabling everyone with the chance to come to performance classes by keeping our prices low but the standard of teaching extremely high, with industry professional, vocationally trained teachers.”
