TWO members of the Malvern Joggers Running club competed in the London Marathon last weekend, both were lucky enough to win VLM places in the club draw.
Suzie Lane ran the first of three marathons this month, flying around in 3hrs, 39mins and 40secs.
She said she was ‘absolutely gobsmacked’.
“I was only hoping for a Marathon PB of 3 hrs 50 but I would have been happy with a sub 4 hrs – which I have never managed in London in my subsequent three attempts – so to get 20 mins off my course PB and over 11.5 mins off my previous marathon PB set in Edinburgh in May 2017 I am beyond ecstatic.
“I could not have wished for better conditions.
“I just needed to have a serious talk with my legs around mile 19 and after that I was never, ever going to let anything stop me after all my hard work on the day and on the training beforehand.
Whilst most marathon runners would be resting after competing in an event like that there is no rest for Suzie as she has The Manchester Marathon next Sunday, then The Rock and Roll Liverpool Marathon on the October 24.
The other runner Jim Wheatstone said: “I found it hard compared to last year, due to my lack of speed training, but still enjoyed it.”
