Keegan thrilled to leave the Street with 'amazing' storyline

FORMER Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan said it was great to leave the soap ‘with a bang’ during a special visit to Malvern.

The star, who played Tina McIntyre in the famous ITV show, was the headline guest at this year’s Truckfest South West and Wales event which was held at the Three Counties Showground.

Keegan made the visit just weeks after her character was killed off when she was hit by a metal pipe by Rob Donovan.

And speaking at the event, the 27-year-old, said it was an absolute joy to be part of the show and a thrilling final storyline which continues to unravel in the aftermath of her death.

“I was leaving the show anyway but then they (producers) said ‘we’ve got a great storyline, we are thinking of killing Tina’,” she said.

“At first I was like ‘oh no you can’t kill Tina’ but then I heard about how it was going to affect the rest of the street and what characters were going to be involved so I thought ‘ you know what it’s going to be amazing’.

“It was great to go out with a bang.

“I think it is (the storyline) going to go on for a good few more months and I think the actual effect of it all is going to sort of rip up the street as it goes on.

“It’s going to be nice watching Coronation Street and still hearing Tina’s name. I’m a big fan of Coronation Street and always will be.

“It was my first ever job in TV and in my second ever audition I got the part so I was very lucky. I worked with a lot of great people.”

And Keegan hinted she could be appearing on the screen once again in the near future.

“I have something planned but I can’t say anything yet as the contract hasn’t been signed but it’s all very exciting times at the moment.” she added.
