THE HEAD gardener at Malvern Town Council flourished under pressure as she scooped a national award.
Laura Russell received a highly commended certificate for her entry in the RHS BBC Gardener’s World Live Window Box competition, which took place at the NEC in Birmingham between June 11 and 14.
Laura’s entry, named Window Box World – My Oasis, was one of only four to be given the certificate.
It included fuchsias, Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘Nigrescens’ and Viola cornuta.
Laure said: “The purpose of the box was to bring light, interest and beauty into a crowded urban space, hence the standard fuchsia which hovers over the violas, maximising available planting space.
“The Dichondra can dangle a good 80cm and is excellent at reflecting light, it is a brilliant foliage plant.”
