MEMBERS of the Ledbury Library Development Group are celebrating a successful first year which saw them raise £1,775 to use on improving their service.
During the group’s first month after its move to its new home at Master’s House the library has seen a dramatic increase in the loan of books together with 150 new members.
In the last year memberships have been on the increase by an average of 20 people per month and if this level of interest continues the library’s opening hours may be increased.
Additional books have been added to the library, thanks to the money raised, and it is now able to support a digitising project to protect historic records of local papers.
As well as this there are now more children’s books, additional audio books and a range of history and art books.
Chair Nina Shields said the venue has lots of exciting plans lined-up for the future and encouraged residents to watch this space.
“This has been a fantastic first year and we are grateful to all our supporters,” she said.
Despite the LLDG’s success it is still encouraging more people to sign-up and become members.
