A POPULAR Malvern gym has re-opened its doors following a major £300,000 revamp.

A ceremony took place on Thursday (September 10) to mark the end of the work, which has seen top-of-the-range equipment installed at Malvern Splash.

Residents are now being invited to the Priory Road site on Saturday (September 19) for an open day to showcase the refurbished gym between 9am and 4pm.

Ian Bonsall, Freedom Leisure centre manager, who operate the site on behalf of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are delighted to be hosting an open day to showcase our refurbished centre and offer people the chance to try out our fantastic new facilities.

“There will be a great range of activities taking place throughout the day and we hope to see many people from the local community come along.”

Staff will show visitors around the new gym equipment between 10am and 12pm as well as giving free taster gym sessions throughout the day.

Yoga, body pump and Zumba sessions will also take place and everyone can swim for just £1 between 10.30am and 4pm.

Coun Rebecca Massey, portfolio holder for leisure and health and wellbeing at the district council, added: “This investment helped transform the facilities available to gym users and is a valuable addition to the leisure offer in Malvern.

“This is only the start of the improvements that will be made to our leisure centres as a result of our partnership with Freedom Leisure.”
