A LIMITED edition calendar for 2017 which is inspired by the picturesque Malvern Hills has been launched to raise funds for charity.
Malvern resident and photographer John Greenwood has created the calendar which will be sold through Just So and the Post Office in Barnards Green as well as other independent retailers in town to help raise funds for South Worcestershire Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) on the Enigma Business Park.
Government funding cuts has meant the charity has had to reduce its office hours, resulting in less people in the area being able to access the valuable free services it provides, including debt and housing advice.
Only 200 copies of the ‘Malvern Hills 2017’ calendar have been printed to shops, including Just So, and they are urging those who love the Malvern countryside or anyone looking for a Christmas gift to act quick if they want to buy one.
John, who can often be found snapping on the Malvern Hills as early as 4am trying to capture the sunrise, said: “I’m lucky to live in an amazing part of the world and wanted to capture the beauty of the Malverns in its best light throughout the seasons.
“I’m really proud of the calendar and hope its sales will help more people in South Worcestershire to access the vital free services CAB offers.”
John will be exhibiting a selection of his landscape photographs throughout October at the Homend Shopping Mall in Ledbury where the calendar will also be available to buy.
He constructed his own website initially as a personal online portfolio for all his work but has since received international interest in his images including a commission from the BBC’s Countryfile Magazine.
Jane Knowles, owner of Just So in Barnards Green, added: “I discussed the idea of producing a calendar with John earlier in the year, as we also sell his greetings cards which are extremely popular.
“Talking to my customers I was really surprised at how many of them use the services of CAB, and could no longer access their services as easily due to Government funding cuts so we decided a percentage of the calendar sales should go towards the charity.
“The photography featured in the calendar is stunning and a must have Christmas gift for anyone who appreciates the wonderful scenery the Malvern Hills has to offer.”
‘The Malvern Hills 2017’ calendar costs £10 and is available to buy now through independent retailers across the town including Just So and the Post Office in Barnards Green.
