MALVERN artists are among those taking part in the county’s largest free annual art event.

This year’s Worcestershire Open Studios event by welcoming visitors into artists studios, giving them behind the scenes access into their creative spaces and processes.

Visitors this year will have more studios to explore than ever before with 128 artists showcasing their paintings, sculptures, prints, jewellery, ceramics, photographs, textiles and woodwork across 97 studios from August 19 to August 28.

All of the artists are excited to open their doors, to meet and chat with visitors about their art and how it’s made.

One Malvern artist opening her doors to visitors is printmaker, Angie Jordan.

Angie mainly works using lino but has a developing interest in collagraphy, a type of printmaking developed by North American artist, Glen Alps in 1955.

She said: “My work is a response to the places and wildlife that inspires me.

“I take a subject and enjoy the process of turning it into a bold image for printing.

“I hope my work connects with people evoking feelings and memories or simply makes them smile.

“I’m taking part in Worcestershire Open Studios as I enjoy sharing my take on printmaking and introducing people to the medium. As well as viewing my work visitors will be able to ink up and print their own bookmark from a pre-cut lino block.”

Richard Nicholls of Worcestershire Open Studios described the event as an ‘excellent opportunity’ to see the talent on their doorstep.

All studios are free to visit. Guides for the event can be found local libraries, information centres and businesses, or can be downloaded from the Worcestershire Open Studios website.
