ARTISTS in and around Malvern will be opening the doors of their studios to the public this bank holiday weekend when the Worcestershire Open Studios returns from tomorrow (Saturday) to bank holiday Monday, August 26, writes Carrie Eddins.
Now in its fifth year, the country’s largest free art event invites visitors to see the inside of artists’ studios and shared spaces and to talk to them about how they make their work
There will be a wide range of art on display by individual artists and groups, including painting, printmaking, jewellery, ceramics, textile art, sculpture, photography, millinery and woodwork.
There are more than 180 artists at 83 locations around the country to visit. Anyone who visits five of the venues can complete an entry to win a £100 voucher to spend with any of the participating artists.
Upper Colwall oil painter Anna Cumming, was one of the first to sign up to participate in what will be her third open studios.
Anna, who describes her painting as explorative and expressive, said, “I strive to capture a mood, and the energy of a place and time.
“This year I’ll be showing a whole new body of work inspired by the shores from St Ives to The Hebrides, and of course, the Malvern Hills.”
Milliner Kerry Kernan said: “I love that people will be able to see all of my tools of the trade on display and how I use these in order to produce the pieces they see around them.”
