A MALVERN charity which helps people with swallowing and communication difficulties has received a £10,000 grant to launch an investigation into how it can further benefit those that use its services.

ARCOS (Association for Rehabilitation of Communication and Oral Skills) received the funding from the National Lottery to undertake a study to give people access to activities which will benefit their health and well-being.

Charity officials hope that once the study is completed it will lead to further grants to develop the Avenue Road service as well as providing workshops in dance, music and drama.

ARCOS’ director Kay Coombes said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the money to carry out this important investigation.

“The study will provide us the option to explore the potential of having physical activities to benefit our clients and their families.

“We understand moving, dancing and singing are thoroughly enjoyed by those we help as well as the therapeutic water-based activities.

“These are the kind of things we will be investigating to improve our service.”
