Malvern Buzzards take on the annual autumn seven-mile Worcestershire Beacon run

Malvern Editorial 13th Oct, 2022   0

THE MALVERN Buzzards have taken on their annual run 460metres over the Worcestershire Beacon, around North Hill and back.

The seven-mile circuit sees participants also battle the dropping temperatures and falling trees.

The annual Worcestershire Beacon Race – put on by Worcester Athletics Club – is now in its 65th year.

More than 150 runners took part in the now historical race.

The strong wake saw the Buzzards winning the UKA Affiliated Team prize thanks to Keith Evans, who was fourth and the first WR14 (Malvern based) male, the first Buzzard and the first of his age category (MV50).

He was quickly followed by fellow Buzzards Michael Dymond (sixth) and Paul Childs (seventh) securing the prize.

For the lady Buzzards Ally Fletcher, was the fourth female to finish and first in her age category (FV35), Sarah Armstrong first in her age category (FV55), and Margaret Kenchington first in her age category (FV65).

The Buzzards said they were extremely grateful to Worcester AC for a well-organised event with a beautiful souvenir finishers medal to mark the occasion.

The club also thanked Malvern Hills District Council and the Malvern Hills Conservators for allowing this race to be held annually.
