Malvern cadets help launch Poppy Appeal

THE ANNUAL Poppy Appeal has been launched in Malvern by The Royal British Legion urging residents once more to show their appreciation and support for the armed forces and their families.

Cadets from Malvern B Company were joined by RBL volunteers at Bellevue Terrace on Friday (October 25) as well as members and officers from the Riders branch who had travelled from Cheltenham to Strensham services to boost launch events.

It is hoped more than £35,000 will be raised in Malvern alone this year towards the legion’s national target of £37 million to continue its work delivering care and support to the armed forces community.

Nick Martin, community fundraiser for the area, said: “The support the Poppy Appeal gets in Malvern and around the county is fantastic but we always want more people to show their support for the armed forces family.

“I am delighted to be part of the launch here.”

The Poppy Appeal provides a significant contribution towards the £1.6 million needed every week by the legion to support families with crisis grants and holidays as well as financial and inquest advice.
