Malvern care home to receive almost £200,000 investment for new technology

Malvern Editorial 9th Jan, 2018   0

A MALVERN care home is set to benefit from an almost £200,000 investment to provide its staff and residents with the latest technology.

A total of £199,000 is to be spent at Howbury House, on Pickersleigh Grove, over a six-year-period.

The new technology will support people with their mobility, personal health, well-being, behaviour and social independence.

Built in the 1980s, Howbury House is owned and run by Worcestershire County Council.

It includes 32 units and provides a service for people with dementia, physical disabilities and adults over the age of 65.

Coun Adrian Hardman, cabinet member for adult social care, said: “In Worcestershire we are leading the way when it comes to New Technology in Care and this investment of £199,000 is great news.

“Howbury House will be a pioneer in this field and other residential homes will be able to visit to see how the technology could support them.”

The county council supports some of the most vulnerable people in society and aims to ensure Worcestershire residents are healthier, live longer and have a better quality of life.

The technology available at Howbury, which will be installed throughout 2018, will also support staff by reducing or removing administrative tasks.
