RESIDENTS in a Malvern care home have been selflessly baking Christmas cakes to gift to local community foodbanks in their area.

Elgar Court’s residents and staff have been busy creating Christmas bauble cakes to gift to three local community foodbanks in Malvern and Upton Upon Severn.

Residents took great delight in handing over their Brandy soaked, bauble decorated Christmas cakes for foodbank visitors to enjoy over the festive period.

General manager, Sarah Cadwallader said: “Christmas is a time for giving and it is so important to give back – we hope our Festive Christmas Bauble Cakes bring lots of joy to everyone.”

The cake making process formed part of the care home’s life enrichment programme which aims to keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

Joan, resident at Elgar Court said: “I have always loved baking and we had so much fun making and decorating these cakes.

“It makes us all so happy to think that people will be enjoying our cakes, and after all is there really anything more delicious than a home-made Christmas Cake?”
