THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas was a success in Malvern as the town’s lights switch-on raised over £1,000 for the Mayor’s charity.
Malvern was in the spirit of giving last Saturday (November 23) as the crowd’s braved the elements brought on by Storm Bert to mark the start of the festive season.
Mayor, councillor Marilyn Birks’ chosen charity – Cube Youth – will receive a welcome funding boost thanks to locals’ generosity.
Attendees on the day were able to visit Santa’s grotto, see live circus performances, mooch around the mini market, take part in arts and crafts workshops and much more.
Malvern Theatre pantomime stars, Mark James and Philip Arran, were in attendance to switch on the Christmas Lights which lit up the town in a stunning winter glow.
A Christmas tree donated by Leigh Sinton Farm and Nurseries sits as the main centrepiece on Belle Vue Island.
It was put in place by Malvern Town Council’s operations team and dressed by the council’s lighting contractor, ALB Services.
