Malvern College celebrating two major milestones

Malvern Editorial 27th Nov, 2017   0

THIS year marks the 25th anniversary of Malvern College turning co-educational.

The institute is also celebrating the introduction of the International Baccalaureate in the sixth form.

Founded in 1865, the college welcomed its first girls in 1992 and to date almost half of its 650 pupils are female who engage in every area of school life and once male-dominated sports such as rackets and cricket.

And the college has since decided to adopt the IB alongside its A-level provision to ‘widen’ students’ horizons with almost half of the sixth formers taking the education programme.

Headmaster Antony Clark said: “Boys continue to succeed at Malvern and the girls are flourishing too.

“Our co-ed system boost the intellectual confidence of our pupils and their self-belief.

“For me, our greatest strength, though, is the kind of people we produce.

“The timeless ‘Malvern Qualities’ – like resilience, risk taking, curiosity, ambition and kindness – shape our young women and men, preparing them for the fast-paced modern world.”
