Malvern District Council's five-year plan to go before executive committee

Malvern Editorial 24th Jan, 2023   0

MALVERN Hills District Council’s five year plan is under review, writes Sonny Rackham.

The document prioritises improving energy efficiency, supporting the Homes for Ukraine scheme and delivering government-funded capital grants for rural businesses and community.

The plan, being presented to the council’s executive committee today (January 24) will propose plans to improve the energy efficiency of Malvern Theatre and Malvern Splash leisure centre.

The government-funded capital grants programme hopes to provide £500,000 in investments for the area.

Other plans hope to provide cost of living support, support the Malvern Hills District Youth Forum in improving mental health education in schools, and minimise homelessness and rough sleeping in the district.

Councillor Tom Wells, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council said: “Our Five Year Plan refresh is really important, it has been undertaken in the context of the cost of living crisis, and builds on the ongoing work of the council.

“The new actions cover all three of our priority areas, which are essential in continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents.”
