EVIE RICHARDS has been named in Team England’s cycling squad for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games this summer.
Richards, from Malvern, specialises in mountain biking and became the women’s cross-country world champion at the 2021 Mountain Bike World Championships.
She is part of a 35-strong cycling team at the Games and one three athletes selected for the mountain bike event along with Harry Birchill and Joseph Blackmore.
And Richards was selected to take part at the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games last summer as she placed seventh on her Team GB Olympic debut.
That came after Richards won silver on her Commonwealth Games debut in the cross-country event in Gold Coast back in 2018.
Cycling legends Dame Laura Kenny and Steve Bate MBE are among those to have been selected in the cycling squad.
The mountain bike event at this summer’s Games will take place at Cannock Chase Forest on Wednesday, August 3.
