Malvern flies the flag ahead of Armed Forces Day 2021

THE ARMED Forces flag is flying proudly above the Malvern Hills District Council House to pay tribute to servicemen and women.

It comes ahead of Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 26, which provides a chance for everyone to show support for currently serving troops, service families, veterans and cadets.

On Tuesday, Coun Cynthia Palmer, Chairman of the Council, along with Coun Martin Allen, Armed Forces Member Champion, and Peter Storry, Leader of Malvern Hills Veterans Breakfast Club, raised the flag to recognise the contribution made by all military communities past and present.

Coun Palmer said: “Raising the flag is a way of showing our support for the troops and their families.

“With people, communities and organisations across the country coming together, we hope it provides a much-needed morale boost to those who continue to keep us safe.”

Coun Allen added: “Armed Forces Day is an important time where we honour and celebrate all the brave people who serve and have served.

“It is an opportunity to thank the Armed Forces community for their ongoing contribution”

People can show their support for the armed forces community by taking a picture or video of them saluting and sending it to @ArmedForcesDay on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #SaluteOurForces
