A MALVERN business is the latest to sponsor Worcester’s penguin art trail.

Westbridge Foods, who specialise in frozen food is is sponsoring one of 80 ‘frosty friends’ who will take to the streets for the Great Waddle of Worcester.

The eight week art trail is brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice from July 22. Westbridge’s penguin sculpture will be brought to life by an artist’s design and auctioned at the end of the project to raise vital funds for the charity.

Becki Hewerdine, HR director at Westbridge Foods, said: “Being a local business we’re very aware of the care St Richard’s Hospice provides across our community.

“Joining its hospice huddle this summer is our way of saying thank you for the support given to local patients and their loved ones each and every year.

“The trail will be hugely popular with the Westbridge team and their families and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone’s selfies with our own beautiful sculpture as well as the other penguins out on parade.”

The trail runs until September 15, 2024. Forty large and forty small fibreglass penguin sculptures will bring a splash of colour to Worcester’s streets and public spaces to form an interactive art trail.

Sara Matthews, business development manager for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We’re so excited for everyone to meet the Westbridge Foods penguin. It’s a wonderful design, painted by a local artist, and sure to slide into hearts this summer.

“All 80 penguins are being painted ready for the big reveal on 22 July. This might be our third art trail but the artwork gets better and better each time. We can’t wait for Worcester to waddle with us.”

The great Waddle of Worcester is supported by Presenting Partners; Crowngate, DRPG, Worcester City Council and Worcestershire Ambassadors, Community and Education Partner; Worcester BID and Media Partners; the Worcester News and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
