Malvern Hills Lions help provide children's charity with new sensory area

Malvern Editorial 6th Jul, 2016 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

MEMBERS of Malvern Hills Lions Club have helped transform a charity centre into being more child-friendly, ready for youngsters with autism to use.

The Lions, along with Malvern Rotary Club and a Malvern Beaver Scout group, recently made the ‘What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful’ centre a safe and secure sensory area, which children can enjoy.

A panelled fence was built above the existing brick wall to make the space more secure and artificial turf was also laid in the garden to make the area accessible all year round.

Kim Philpotts, the founder of the centre in Howsell Road, Malvern Link, thanked the club for their help and said she was delighted with the new-look building.

Dave Jeavons, president of Malvern Hills Lions Club, said: “The project has been an excellent example of the community pulling together to help enhance the lives of autistic children and their families who visit the centre.”

The club would like to thank Bradfords Building Supplies and DH Phillips, whose generous donations of materials enabled the project to be completed.
