Malvern Hills Trustees remind people of filming and photography rules

THE MALVERN Hills Trust are reminding people to double check what permission is needed when looking to film or photograph the landscape.

Permission must always be sought for commercial filming or photography.

This includes documentaries, advertising campaigns, TV, film projects and promotional photography for businesses or organisations.

Applications can be made through the Malvern Hills Trust website, where full guidance is provided along with an application form and details of relevant fees, which vary depending on the scale and nature of the project.

The trustees say that they cannot close any portion of the Hills and Commons for the purposes of events, or filming and photography.

Personal use filming and photography Filming and photography for personal, non-commercial use – such as family photos or recreational filming – does not require permission.

Drones

The use of drones for personal use is not permitted at any time across the Malvern Hills and Commons under their Bylaws – Drone and model aeroplane policy.

This restriction is in place to protect wildlife, livestock, visitors and the tranquillity of the landscape. Any professional drone use must be considered as part of a formal application just as you would for a filming/photography application.
