LAST weekend members of The Malvern Joggers running club took part in the Worcester 10km and half-marathon, writes Ben Workman.
Runner Ben Toon represented the club in the 10km race and ran personal best time of 38mins, including a 6min, 1sec mile.
He said: “I would never dare to dream I could get close to a time like this and I haven’t got the words to describe how I feel.
“I’ll forever be grateful for all the support I have had over the 8 years I have been a member of this fantastically wonderful club.”
Emma Davies, a Couch 2 5k graduate, said she was ‘still on a runner’s high’ after competing in her first 10k race.
“I only started running at the beginning of April and never imagined I would be doing 10k so soon.
“Absolutely loved it. Amazing company this morning with the other Malvern Joggers. So grateful I found this group.”
Andrew Gallagher was the second Malvern Jogger across the line with a time of 51mins and 51secs, Phil Ashby finished with a time of 52mins and 49secs and Pat Johnson finished third in the age category in 54mins and 57secs.
In the half-marathon, Lucy Gallagher was the first Malvern Jogger home in the women’s event with a time of 2hrs, 4mins and 29secs. Lucy Dalley and Jamie Francis came in shortly after with times of 2hrs 5mins and 23secs and 2hrs 6mins and 51secs respectively.
