Malvern Male Voice Choir to host Remembrance concert

Malvern Editorial 31st Oct, 2024 Updated: 6th Nov, 2024   0

THE LONGSTANDING Malvern Male Voice Choir is set to host a special Armistice Day concert next weekend.

The choir, conducted by Charles Pavey, will honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in war through a concert performance at 7pm on Remembrance Sunday (November 10) at The Church of the Ascension on Somers Park Avenue in Malvern.

Malvern Male Voice Choir will sing a range of reflective pieces for the occasion and these will be interspersed with poems and other short writings on the themes of war, peace and remembrance.

The evening includes a short service in which all can participate and the whole occasion, which concludes with an act of remembrance, will be led by Licensed Lay Minister Eileen Tomlin.

A spokesman said: “All are welcome to this event, remembering those killed, injured and affected in other ways by conflict.

“It is an annual occasion in the Choir’s diary and is held in the highest esteem by those involved or who come to listen.

“The title ‘By Day and Night’ reflects the sombre thought that there has been conflict somewhere in the world every day since the Second World War ended.”

There will be a retiring collection with proceeds being shared between the Royal British Legion, the Malvern Link with Cowleigh parish and Malvern Male Voice Choir.
