Malvern Editorial 2nd Jun, 2017 Updated: 2nd Jun, 2017

A MALVERN man is to appear in court after a family was threatened with a machete at their home in Hall Green earlier this week.

Jamie Smith, 32 of Marlborough Gardens, was arrested earlier today (Friday) and he has been charged with aggravated burglary, possession of a bladed article and ABH following Monday’s attack.

Smith was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Saturday).

Police had launched an appeal following the machete attack and it was shared hundreds of times across social media and in the news.

Since its release, West Midlands Police has received plenty of information.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Thank you to everyone who has shared, liked and commented on the appeal and those who have got in contact to tell officers what they know.”

Police are still appealing to trace the second man and anyone with information about his identity or about the incident is urged to contact DC Tom Lyons on t.lyons@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk.
