A MALVERN man who police say has caused a significant amount of distress and harassment to local businesses and members of the public over several years has been given a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The order bans Shane Standen, who is 35 years old, from entering a number of shops in Malvern, Tesco, B&Q, Sainsbury’s and One Stop.

The CBO was issued on Monday at Worcester Magistrates Court and was granted after an application by West Mercia Police because of the havoc Standen has wreaked.

Sgt Simon Hallam from the South Worcestershire Problem Solving Hub said: “I hope the CBO provides reassurance to local retailers and residents that the police will take positive action to make our communities safer.”

Members of the public are encouraged to report any breaches of the order to West Mercia Police on 101.

The powers to issue a Criminal Behaviour Order are contained in the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 where behaviour has found to have caused alarm, distress or harassment.
